Lemony Snicket’s a Series of Unfortunate Events reminds us that this world is full of dark, scary and evil people, and it does so in a very believable way. Through the brilliant character acting of Jim Carrey we are shown just how easy a disguise is to fake.
Although A Series of Unfortunate Events is often classified as a family movie, the dark overtones of the movie should be considered when viewing with young children.
A Series of Unfortunate Events revolves around the Baudelaire orphans, based on the first 3 books in the franchise of the same name, Lemony Snicket’s a Series of Unfortunate Events.
The movie will capture your imagination through story telling and acting, but leaves something to be desired as far as visual stimulants go.
Lemony Snicket’s a Series of Unfortunate Events was created before the release of at least the last 4 books(although only 2 were yet to be released when the film came out). Often times when a movie comes out before a series is finished the producers will leave something that they feel is unimportant even if it helps tie the series in.
take Harry Potter for example. Chamber of Secrets, thought to be a very unimportant and more of a ‘Filler’ then anything, J.K. Rowling came out and told everyone to re-read the book – as it proved to be very important for future instalments.
Lemony Snicket’s a Series of Unfortunate Events was never given a sequel, even though most seemed on board with the idea. Several years passed and eventually the actors became too old for the roles that they once played, forcing the series to come to a stop. Paramount pictures had hoped it would become a franchise much like Harry Potter, capturing the imagination of a generation. Perhaps it was to early for the series? nevertheless, the movie is fantastic, and although a cliff-hanger ending you will still feel satisfied. and if not, you could just pick up the book series to read.
