EA recently released a new Battlefield 4 trailer for fans of the series’ renowned multiplayer. Titled “This is Battlefield 4 Multiplayer”, the video details various elements of the award-winning multiplayer that will feature in Battlefield 4 – namely such elements as ‘playing your way’, Commander Mode, the sheer scale of the game, Levolution, improved vehicle warfare, customization, new-and-improved Battlelog, and Spectator mode.
“From infantry-based combat to all-out warfare, gamers have the freedom to do more and be more.“

Most interestingly, during the ‘Scale’ segment of the clip, brand new maps are on display. These locations include snowy mountains, wide-open grassy plains, and tight indoor corridors. Two of these maps, as stated by the announcer, are ”Operation Locker” and “Golmud Railway”.
While this isn’t the first we’ve heard of the new maps (see the Battlefield 4 wiki), this is the initial gameplay. According to the “Operation Locker” description, “It focuses on close-quarters combat. It features a circular prison area where its main Levolution event, the guard tower collapsing, occurs.”
In contrast, “Golmud Railway” opts for the more open experience Battlefield is known for: “The map focuses on large scale vehicular warfare with players able to access tanks, helicopters, light vehicles, transport vehicles and close air support fixed-wing aircraft.“
It’s clear that DICE is going above and beyond with Battlefield 4, focusing largely on the multiplayer aspect prior to launch. If the gameplay, new features, and limited glimpses of the new maps are anything to go by, Battlefield 4 looks set to blow all competition out of the water.
Sporting a full single player campaign, 10 maps and 7 game modes (at launch), Battlefield 4 is set for release on October 29th for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, and will later launch alongside the Xbox One and PS4.
