Capcom has revealed why they will have microstansactions in their upcoming episodic game Resident Evil: Revelations 2, starting that “There are no microtransactions within the main campaign,” only in Raid Mode.

Capcom also said that the in-game currency, life crystals, can either be earned in-game or with real money. “Players can use ‘life crystals’ when playing through Raid mode in Revelations 2. The crystals essentially act as continues (re-spawns) in Raid mode when players die,” Capcom said. “Blue life crystals can be earned through playing daily missions and red life crystals can be bought.”

“The two crystals act the same, but there’s an option to buy if players run out of blue (earned) crystals or don’t want to spend the time earning them,” Capcom added. “If players have both blue and red crystals, the game will prioritize the blue crystals over the red ones. Again, these are only used in Raid mode and not in the main campaign.”

When the episodic game releases, it will cost $6 per episode, or $25 for the full season across Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
