For those eagerly looking forward to Microsoft’s long-awaited screenshot feature for the Xbox One, you don’t have to wait much longer – the Xbox One’s March update will introduce screenshots and screenshot management, tile transparency adjustment, a ‘suggested friends’ section, and more.
According to Major Nelson’s blog, taking a screenshot is as easy as double-tapping the the Xbox button on your controller to capture an image and pressing ‘Y’ to save it (similar to pressing ‘X’ to record). Alternatively, users with Kinect plugged in can say “Xbox, take a screenshot” for a hands-free approach.
As well as introducing screenshots, the update improves the Upload app so users can manage their collection of screenshots, and even set one as their background. Read here for more on how screenshots will work.
The update also introduces “Suggested Friends” in the Friends tab, which shows people you may know as well as popular broadcasters and clip creators; the option to share your real name as well as your Gamertag with the wider Xbox Live community, rather than just your Friends; and a ‘Tile Transparency” setting, which enables users to configure the level of transparency for the Dashboard tiles.
While we don’t yet have a release, the update is currently in preview, and will release some time during March. For a full list of features coming in the next update, check out Major Nelson’s blog post.
