Today, straight from the Nexus, a new patch for Heroes of the Storm rises. The new patch adds in a lot of new features, come check out what’s been added.
Heroes of the Storm has, today, received the latest patch. This patch adds in a new battleground, specialist, progression system and mode to play for Heroes of the Storm.
The Tomb of the Spider Queen is the brand new 3-lane Battleground. In this map the Spider Minions and enemy Heroes will drop magical Gems of Power upon death. Players can collect these Gems and turn them in to the Spider Queen’s Altars, which can be found in-between lanes at the center of the Battleground. Once either team has relinquished enough Gems to the Spider Queen, her Webweavers will descend and travel down each lane to siege the opposing team on three fronts. This sounds like a pretty awesome feature and will no doubt be an absolute game changer in this web filled massacre.
Sylvanas Windrunner is the new unique specialist. The basic abilities of this latest addition include: Withering Fire, a shot to the closest enemy for 25 damage, preferring Heroes; stores 5 charges and deals 10 damage, and an additional 40 damage over 2 seconds, to target unit; this effect spreads to nearby units.
Haunting Wave is his next ability. This sends forth a wave of banshees, dealing 30 damage to all targets, with a reactivate to teleport to the banshees’ location. Definitely handy for getting out of tight spots.
The trait of this new hero are the Black Arrows which are the basic attacks. They have the ability to stun minions, mercenaries and towers.
Of course it’s not complete without the Heroic Abilities. Wailing Arrow shoots an arrow which explodes for 200 damage, silencing enemies for 2.5 seconds. The arrow can also be detonated early for tactical explosions. Finally we have Possession which forces an enemy minion to fight for you, gaining 20% attack damage and health for itself.
Moving on to modes we have the new mode added in the patch, Team League. The second mode of Ranked play in Heroes of the Storm, players can create named teams with dedicated rosters in order to participate in ranked, competitive Heroes of the Storm matches as a group against other teams of similar skill. Players must be rank 40, own 10 or more heroes and create or join a team which has five members who are logged in to play.
Finally the new progression system has increased the maximum hero level from 10 to 20, along with gold rewards for reaching 15 and 20 respectively. Player levels have also been tweaked. Players will not get seven day stimpack at rank 10, along with 2,000 Gold at Player Levels 20, 25, 30, 35, 40. Players who have already surpassed these thresholds will receive the rewards after the patch.
