For months, speculation on the next Gears title has been growing. Black Tusk Studios has taken over development for the Gears franchise and brought over many of the original developers from Epic Games. This includes Rod Ferguson, former director of production at Epic Games, who is now the Studio Head at Black Tusk Studios.
With the release of the Master Chief Collection on Xbox One, many people in the Gears community called for a similar project dubbed “Marcus Fenix Collection”. Rumors were shut down as Rod Ferguson on Twitter responded, “I love the passion, but there’s no Marcus Fenix Collection. We ARE working on other exciting Gears projects. See you at E3!”
It was not until recently that the rumors ramped back up, this time focusing on a Gears of War Remastered edition. While Black Tusk Studios has not commented or confirmed that such a game is in development, images have been received by various news outlets including: Polygon and Kotaku. According to Polygon, the remastered edition, features improved lighting and textures and runs at 60 frames per second. With Gears of War set to be turning 10 years old next year, now could be the perfect times to get people back into the series.
