Ninja Theory teases Hellblade’s gameplay reveal
The developer behind 2013’s DMC: Devil May Cry and the 2007’s PS3 exclusive Heavenly Sword, Ninja Theory is known for intense, beautiful, hack-and-slash action. And when it comes to the studio’s next game, Hellblade, it doesn’t look like they are quitting any time soon. Even though it was announced at last year’s Gamescom with a gorgeous reveal tailer, very little of the PS4 exclusive Hellblade has been seen since. But according to a post from Ninja Theory on the PlayStation Blog, that could be changing in the near future. In a recent developer diary, which can be found below, Ninja Theory showed off the ingenious methods the 13-person, independent team has taken to craft the cinematic visuals gamers expect from a full AAA game. While the methods they use are fascinating, the combination of a cricket helmet, an umbrella wire, and a webcam being a particular highlight, the video concludes with a short, few seconds long, glimpse at a finalized cinematic.

Explaining, Ninja Theory’s own Dominic Mathews said, “The small glimpse of the cinematic scene that you saw at the end of the development diary is from our Vertical Slice that we are currently busy finalizing.” It will be “a small section of the game that we are taking to a finished, polished state.”
He then concludes by saying, “We’ll be sharing much more of the Vertical Slice in the next few months, showing Hellblade gameplay for the first time.”
Hellblade is set to be a slick action game, following the character of Senua, “a Celtic warrior plunged into hell.” With E3 and Gamescom both rapidly approaching, it is likely one of them is where Ninja Theory plans to finally share what they have been working on.
