Microsoft has responded to the latest round of negative news targeted at the Xbox One concerning the instant standby feature and the amount of energy it draws by announcing that the console will soon give users the option to turn on an energy-saving mode during the console’s initial set-up.
Users will now no longer have to manually turn on the energy-saving mode via the system’s menus, with the option to keep it permanently on the first time they set up their console. Microsoft claims this will help cut down consumers’ power bills since their system will be drawing less power throughout the day when it’s not being used.
The catch to using the energy-saving mode however is that users will be losing some of the benefits instant-on provides, meaning slower startup times and update interruptions.
The update will be available “in the coming months” according to Microsoft. Let us know in the comments below if you’ll activating energy-saving mode once it’s released.
