Koji Igarashi made a name for himself at Konami through the vast amount of games he had a hand in making in the Castlavania series. Today, about a year after he left the company, he has revealed his own spiritual successor to the Castlevania games he worked on for so many years. The title is called Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night and you can be apart of of its formation by being a contributor to its Kickstarter page here.
Iga, as he is often called, has stated that this game will be in the genre he has dubbed Igavania. According to the definition on the Kickstarter page, Igavania is, “gothic, exploration-focused action platformers, designed by one of the godfathers of the genre!”
As with many big projects on Kickstarter, there are many rewards for backers, depending on the generosity of their donations. These reward vary between gaining Iga’s immortal gratitude for $5 to meeting Iga for dinner in Japan and much more for $10,000.
The game has a goal of $500,000 with 32 days to go. Lucky for fans of Iga’s work, as of now they are only about $20,000 away from that goal! Perhaps in anticipation of this campaign’s success, the site also shows more content that could be added to the game if higher goals are reached. This includes voice acting for the game if they reach $850,000.
Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night will be set to release for Xbox One, PS4, and PC if fully funded.
