The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is due for release next week and it’s already passed a huge milestone; 1 million copies of the game have already been pre-ordered.
This was announced today on the official twitter for the game and posted on the official website.
It was expected that the game would sell over 1 million copies across all it’s available platforms and 8 days before it’s release it’s already sold more copies than Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings which sold 940,000 copies in 3 months.
“We’ve crossed the 1 million pre-order milestone and it’s all thanks to you guys! We would like to thank all the gamers for their trust and support,” said Marcin Iwiński, co-founder, CD PROJEKT RED. “This is the last stretch and we’re pushing hard — over the last two weeks, we’ve increased performance on all platforms and started working full speed on the expansions, Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine.” concludes Iwiński.
The developer, CD Projekt Red, has not announced the breakdown for the pre-orders across the different platforms yet. No doubt however the game will be popular for some time at least across each platform.
For certain places in the United Arab Emirates the game is already on sale after some stores have begun selling the retail ready version of the game before they were meant to. Quickly the opening cinematic scenes found their way to Youtube and livestreams of the game began springing up however Twitch is doing all it can to prevent the early streams and is actually banning some of the livestreamers.
The two expansions for Witcher 3 are being worked on for their expected releases; Heart of Stone is currently due for an October release while Blood and Wine should be coming in the first quarter of 2016. On top of this it was announced last year November than Witcher 3 would receive free DLC, 16 of them actually; all platforms will get the DLC and all editions of the game also.
The excitement for Witcher 3 is building at the release date draws closer. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released on the 19th for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
