During a conference call today, EA attempted to reassure concerned fans that its highly anticipated reboot of Star Wars: Battlefront will not experience the same launch issues as Battlefield 4 infamously did.
EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen stated, “We learned a lot coming out of Battlefield 4…We’ve launched a lot of large-scale titles on our infrastructure [since BF4], like Dragon Age: Inquisition and Battlefield Hardline…We’ve been making significant investments into core infrastructure in security and stability…”
Upon its release in late 2013, Battlefield 4 was plagued by constant server issues, flawed matchmaking, and game-breaking bugs. These issues made the game nearly impossible to play for many; as such, it is no surprise that gamers remain hesitant about EA’s online capabilities.
Jorgensen further reassured fans, stating, “We can never foresee everything, but we’ve demonstrated that we learned some things from the past. We don’t expect anything unforeseen around Star Wars.”
Star Wars: Battlefront releases on November 17 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
