Oculus VR, the company who is making the fancy new virtual reality headset the Oculus Rift is facing another lawsuit. It seems like not too long ago they had a different lawsuit?
This one was reported by Reuters, saying that this lawsuit filed this week makes serious accusations against both the company Oculus VR, and the man behind the Rift tinsel Palmer Luckey.
The report says that the lawsuit accuses Luckey of “taking confidential information he learned while working with another company and passing it off as his own.”
The company in question is Total Recall Technologies, a Hawaii-based company that hired lucky in 2011 to create a virtual reality headset prototype. According to the lawsuit, he even signed a confidentiality agreement. “Throughout the latter half of 2011 and into 2012, Luckey received feedback and information to improve the design of the display,” Reuters explains. “However, Luckey used information he learned from his partnership when he launched a Kickstarter campaign for his own head mounted display.”
Total Recall Technologies is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, but a specific dollar amount wasn’t mentioned. The lawsuit claims breach of contract and fraud.
So far, there has been no comment from the company. This wasn’t the first lawsuit, and this probably won’t be the last that Oculus sees.
