Rockstar San Diego, the developer behind Red Dead Redemption, has revealed via a job listing for a Graphics Programmer that they’re set on delivering “state-of-the-art” graphics for the studio’s next project.
The listing describes the position as someone who is to “develop new and enhance existing graphics technologies (rendering, lighting, shadows, shaders, culling, scene management and others) to help achieve state-of-the-art visuals.” This person will also “work with others to expand our next-generation graphics pipeline including advanced lighting and rendering techniques, and special effects.”
“This is an exciting opportunity to develop cutting-edge graphics and visual effect systems, working together with the art department to create optimal, attractive solutions for our games,” the listing went on to say.
There are two other listings as well for a Network Programmer to address “open-world game elements” and a Gameplay Program to help with “densely populated worlds” and bring the “best combination of realism and responsiveness.”
While a sequel has not yet been confirmed by Rockstar for Red Dead Redemption, a betting man would be wise to guess that it’s coming in the near future, especially since the original game sold more than 13 million copies.
