The most popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game on Steam isn’t what you may think it is. It’s not The Elder Scrolls Online, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Rift, or Eve Online. It’s Tera, which only launched 3 weeks ago on May 5 for Steam.
According to data from SteamCharts.com, over the past three weeks the game has peaked with 18,454 concurrent players. To put that into perspective, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm only peaked at 7,401 players, EVE Online peaked at 3,690, and The Elder Scrolls Online had an all-time peak of 5,067.
These numbers don’t recognize the game as a whole however, just those that use Steam to log into the game. In total, there are more than 4.5 million Tera accounts for North American players and more than 20 million worldwide. The MMO first launched in 2012.
