Ubsioft announced today that Tom Clancy’s The Division will not be arriving later this year, but rather in the company’s 2016 fiscal year. This uncertain time frame lands a potential release in the spring of next year.
Regarding the move to delay The Division, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot commented, “It is never an easy decision to move a launch date,” but it a move like this “has always benefited the company.”
Despite delaying The Division, Ubisoft did confirm that Rainbow Six: Siege, the third-person tactical shooter revealed at E3 last year, is still on track for release later this fall. Guillemot himself also teased the existence of a brand new IP scheduled for release sometime next year.
This is not the only news to come out of Ubisoft today. The mega-publisher also revealed Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate for an October release and announced that it would no longer be developing games for last-gen consoles. It would seem that the time of the next generation is finally here.
