Would you be interested in an Evolve sequel?
Take Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently confirmed that Turtle Rock's new IP - Evolve - is set to become a "permanent" franchise.Evolve, released earlier this year, was an ambitious new project from the creators of Left 4 Dead which pitted four hunters against one monster. The game had some good ideas but was largely considered as a bit of a let down, in no small part due to its frankly astronomical amount of day-one DLC and microtransactions.

Evolve, released earlier this year, was an ambitious new project from the creators of Left 4 Dead which pitted four hunters against one monster. The game had some good ideas but was largely considered as a bit of a let down, in no small part due to its frankly astronomical amount of day-one DLC and microtransactions.
Nevertheless, a new IP is always difficult to create so Evolve could act as an important building block to learn from for a sequel. Take Two seems to have learnt a few lessons as Zelnick pointed out that “if there were something lacking, I would say it would be that it was probably a bit too multiplayer-focused, which we knew all along.”
So would you be more interested in a sequel to Evolve, especially if it incorporated a more substantial single-player mode? Certainly, one of the game’s downfalls was its longevity or lack thereof; being a mostly multiplayer-only game there was only so much players could see and do before the overall concept grew stale. That’s not to mention the fact that a multiplayer game tends to depend on the quality of human allies and opponents, but that’s more to do with the nature of multiplayer as a whole.
Either way, Evolve was popular with a number of people so if you enjoyed the game are you looking forward to a potential sequel? Let me know.
