Everyone looks toward the summer for video game news, just as they look towards the holidays for the biggest releases. E3 brings us a huge first look at many things that are in the works for some of the biggest companies and starts the hype trains that either over shadow or set the tone for most video game news to come in the following months. However, Microsoft seems to be promising that they have more than just E3 up their sleeve.
Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft’s Xbox division, tweeted that:
We should have as much new content at Gamescom as we will at E3.
Gamescom has always been a convention that many find to be important due to it being open to the public. Instead of just news, this is a time where many consumers and enthusiasts can get a real up close look that we are only shown through the streams at E3. That being said, Gamescom usually feels like a part 2 to E3, building off of what was already established in June. For Microsoft to be claiming that there is just as much new content has many people excited or at least curious as to what’s in store for Xbox One owners.
Microsoft claims to have a large amount of games to reveal this year to the point where it would be hard for them to fit everything into E3, and only E3. There will also be a much heavier focus on the games in general at both E3 and Gamescom now that their system has been established. We should still expect to see a few hardware upgrades as we have had news of a new controller coming, but their focus seems to have definitely shifted to the games.
E3 is right around the corner, but we won’t be seeing Gamescom until August 5th through August 9th. We’ll make sure to keep you up to date with any exciting announcements throughout this exciting time of year, so stay tuned to Gamespresso for all of your video game news.
