Bethesda not pushing for Skyrim 2
Fresh after the recent Bethesda E3 press conference, Pete Hines, the company’s VP of marketing and PR, has said his team are currently not working on Skyrim 2 and have no plans to start anytime soon.In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Hines stated that Skyrim 2 will not be the next game in the long-running Elder Scrolls series. “It’s rare to have franchises like the ones we have and to have people joking about “when is Skyrim 2 coming out?” Hines said. “Generally speaking that’s what you’d be getting with another publisher in charge. They’d be spitting out a Skyrim 2 the year after or two years later. That’s just not how we view it.”

“We create smaller stuff, we don’t publish to scale, we try to publish to quality. Make sure everything we do is noteworthy.”
Many fans may be upset at this news, but fear not. This just means that Bethesda is not willing to jeopardize its relationship with their fans by churning out carbon-copy games each and every year, instead, they are focused on making a game they will be truly proud to call their own. With this in mind, whenever Bethesda do get around to Skyrim 2, you can rest assured that it will be the game you’ve been waiting for.
Bethesda’s attitude to development is a breath of fresh air in today’s gaming market; with so many great franchises being treated as cash-cows through yearly releases, destroying their character and charm. Assassins Creed, for example, was once a truly sought-after series with the release of its incredible debut game, but now, thanks to its publishers shift in perspective (*cough* money), the game is merely a shadow of what it could’ve become with the proper diligence.
For now though, as you and your tin-foil hat wait for Skyrim 2, you can check out our most recent news on Bethesda’s next big release, Fallout 4, hitting shelves this November 10th on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
