With Kingdom Hearts III being shown off recently at E3, it is more anticipated than ever. The newest buzz surrounding the third main installment of the series is that there may be an online component in the game. Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the series made a brief statement about the potential for online modes in the upcoming game.

“Online is certainly part of my wish list — we want gamers to play for a while and an online component helps this,” Nomura said.

Now, this may cause concern for the main story of the game, but fear not, Nomura addressed this as well, adding, “While we may be focusing on the main campaign at the moment, it’s not as if we’re going to tack on an online function at the end. In fact, we’ve already got plenty of ideas brewing at the moment. However, we’re still not at the point where we can test these ideas inside the main game.”

So, it sounds like Nomura wants Kingdom Hearts III to be enjoyable for a sustained period of time, which is never a bad thing. I just hope he is right and it will not take away from the wonderful single player mode of the series.
