On Twitter today, Retro tweeted “Can you dig it?” Also included was a link to Nintendo’s E3 website. This has lead fans to speculate just what it is that Retro could be teasing.
Though the tease that Retro released does not seem to fully fit it, there is speculation that Retro could be teasing a new Metroid game. Perhaps the tweet is not meant to be taken quite literally, finally allowing us to see a Wii U based Metroid title.
Retro Studios has also worked on Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. We may be seeing a third game in the series coming soon. We could also see a new Drill Dozer game on the way.
Nintendo’s E3 Direct presentation is scheduled for June 16th. The Nintendo Direct presentation takes place at 9 a.m. PDT. We will see then what it is exactly that Retro Studios is teasing.
