With only a few weeks left to the release of Batman: Arkham Knight, Rocksteady Studios saw fit to drop some more “knowledge bombs” with the fourth Arkham insider video, a series of videos that reveal more and more about the game as we head closer to release.
Director Sefton Hill explained the various features of the batmobile including the powerwinch that can be used to pull down objects in your path, omni-directional tyres that allow the car to move in every direction, an EMP device that stuns the Arkham Knight’s forces and more.
The most significant reveal was that of a new game plus. Sefton Hill explained “In New Game Plus, you can go in and take all of your XP through, take your gadgets through that you’ve unlocked; which is a big thing, because that means basically you can do some of the challenges from earlier on in the game but with a whole new suite of gadgets you never had the first time or the upgrades. And any Riddler trophies that you’ve found are shared on both playthroughs.”
Among Riddler maze-race courses, the ability to use gadgets while gliding and costumes carrying into cutscenes, there was also the mention of loading screens, or rather the lack of loading screens. He explained “No loading screens as you play through the whole game, you can play from the start of the game to the end of the game and you won’t see any loading screens. That’s all a really big important thing for us.” Considering what Hill says comes without any unexpected problems, then it will be quite an achievement and will certainly go down well with players.
Batman: Arkham Knight is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC including Microsoft Windows, Linux and OSX on June 23rd 2015.
