Overkill tells us all about the additions to Payday 2 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
If you've been thinking about picking up a copy of the newest edition to Payday 2 on the PS4 or Xbox One you should probably find out what's new in it. In the latest issue of the Official PlayStation magazine folks over at PlayStation sat down and had a chat with the global brand director for Starbreeze, Almir Listo, and got the dirt from him on what's new in this new edition of Payday 2 for PS4 and Xbox One.Listo talks about how difficult it was to add updates to the last gen console version of the game, a strange thing to say when I found my games constantly being updated on my PS3 and actually a lot of them are still constantly updated. The claim that they did not have the ability to update it because of the aging technology found in the PS3 and Xbox 360 seems a rather moot point since the game was redesigned to play on the PS3 and Xbox 360 and therefore and subsequent updates would have worked just fine.

But enough of my rambling, what does Listo say will be found in the new Payday 2 Crimewave Edition? “We’ve revamped many of the skills systems, we’ve added more skills, we’ve doubled the amount of characters… You have Clover, the first playable female character of the series, Dragan the Croatian heister, John Wick, and Old Hoxton is back as well. You have more weapons, more masks, more heists – there’s basically more of everything!” While all this sounds fantastic I’m still at a loss as to why none of that could be added to the PS3 and Xbox 360. I’m not going to argue over whether or not you should buy this for the current gen consoles but I will say that putting it out seems a bit hokey and money grubby.
