After the unveiling of Metroid Prime: Federation Force at E3, fans took to the internet to let Nintendo know how disappointed (read: angry) they are that the game announced was not a more traditional Metroid game.

Rumors were a float that the studio was working on a Metroid game for the past year, but when they showed off a 4 player co-op shooter, it wasn’t exactly what fans were looking for.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGu3Xe1uUUg] Fans want a game that follows Samus again, and Nintendos interest isn’t in single player games at the moment. Reggie seems to be taking the hate in stride, though, and his response shut down the hate pretty quickly.

The best example I can give you of this, and I think you will appreciate it, is Legend of Zelda Wind Waker. Remember when that art style was first shown. The uproar from the Zelda community was intensely negative. If there had been social media then, there probably would have been a petition to make that game go away.
