Whether you voted for Shovel Knight, the Ice Climbers, or Waluigi, most fans are watering at the mouth waiting to see if the character of their choosing will be developed for Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS.
While it’s unknown how many characters from the ballot will actually be developed and make it into the game, Super Smash Bros producer Masahiro Sakurai confirmed that recent additions Ryu, Roy and Lucas were not added as a result of the ballot, as their development began before the ballot was even announced.
“There is a fighter ballot on the official Smash for Wii U/3DS website,” said Sakurai. “We’ve received an extremely large number of votes, but of course, Lucas, Roy, and Ryu were in development even before the ballot was created. I had a grasp on their popularity and demand, though.”
So, what are the chances the character you want will make the cut?
“From now until the end, it is going to be fan service, but I can’t keep the development team together forever, so there’s only going to be several more characters. I also ask for your patience, as we need time to develop more content,” Sakurai added.
While Sakurai does say ‘several,’ he also says ‘only.’ While it may be unclear now just how many characters will show up in Super Smash Bros, you can still keep voting on the ballot until October 3. Let us know below what character you’re dying to play as when the time finally comes.
