Single player was never an option for Star Wars: Battlefront
Speaking with Gamespot, DICE General Manager Patrick Bach noted that while DICE has been under pressure to get the game out in time with the new film, that wasn't the reason why a single player component isn't present in the game, he stated “To be honest, single-player was never in the plan. It was never the concept.”DICE has a history littered with great multiplayer pedigree - though recently it can be argued they've not met their own high standard - by Bach's own admission, the single player experiences haven't been quite as good as the multiplayer, “It's not as though we haven't done single-player before”, he continues, “our single-player has not been as strong as our multiplayer”.

Perhaps that’s the point. There’s only so much time available to develop a game, especially in this case, so any time spent on single player is time taken away from the multiplayer. And as said above, single player was never the goal. So DICE has chosen to put all of its effort into creating the experience they believe will serve up the best game and Star Wars franchise experience.
Star Wars: Battlefront will be released 17th November on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
