Skylanders started the great video game toy craze back in 2011. Since then, the series has been getting fairly regular updates. (As in, every year)
To say the concept of the game is bad would be a lie, although if you want to get on board with any of the games – be prepared to shell out some cash. Last year, Nintendo decided to help secure that market with the Amiibo. So far only usable across a few games, they do have continued support planned in the future. and Skylanders Superchargers is one of them.
Although Skylanders Superchargers will be available across the usual platforms, Wii U owners have a bonus available for them, providing they own the proper Amiibo. Donkey Kong and Bowser will be featured in the newest Skylanders.
IGN had a chance to sit down and talk to two executives, for Activision and Nintendo.
“Nintendo was actually one of the first groups outside of Activision that saw Skylanders. And even in those early meetings back then it didn’t take long for a bunch of people to start imagining the possibility [of a collaboration]. The conversations had always been in the air.”
Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg was quite clear that Nintendo has always been a partner with Activision in the Skylanders franchise, but the new step towards Amiibo is a little surprising for such a multi-platform game.
