The Division's companion app has been canceled
A representative from Massive Entertainment, developer of The Division, has confirmed that The Division will not have a companion app. The app was causing an imbalance and negatively affecting the gameplay so they decided to scratch it from the game.The companion app was originally announced in 2013. During their E3 2013 demo, they showed how somebody could go seamlessly into the game and help a group of players by using the companion app on their tablet. It was used for a bird's eye view of the battlefield and even allowed for armor buffs to teammates.

The Division is scheduled for release on May 8th, 2016 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. A beta will be available first on the Xbox One, later this year. The PS4 and PC beta will be available in early 2016.
