Michonne is finally getting the true recognition she deserves! Telltale Games announced via YouTube that they would be adding to their Walking Dead franchise with a spin-off miniseries based on the katana-wielding heroine in eponymous series The Walking Dead: Michonne.
The story for the proposed mini-series is set to follow Michonne’s uncharted adventure in between comics #126 and #139, at the end of the All Out War story arc, just after Rick Grimes’ group overcame the despicable Negan. Comic fans are likely to be pitted against or at least encounter other notable characters, as Telltale said, “Players will discover what took Michonne away from Rick, Ezekiel and the rest of her trusted group…and what brought her back.”
The man behind the series, Robert Kirkman added that “In many ways, Michonne herself is a reflection of the world of The Walking Dead. She is brutal and cold on the outside, but deep beneath what is broken, she remains hopeful, trying to claw her way out of the darkness that surrounds her. In our effort to bring the world of the comic and the world of the Telltale series closer together, there is no greater character than Michonne to help bridge that gap.” Clearly, it seems that Kirkman is as excited as we are to get a more fleshed out version of the fan favourite character, and is delighted to hand that role over to Telltale who were behind the stellar emotions of the previous seasons of the Walking Dead.
The Walking Dead: Michonne will be available this fall on iOS, Android, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC. Players who want to experience this three episode mini series addition will need to own at least the first episode of The Walking Dead Season 2 in order to be able to launch the game.
