Video games are going all digital sooner than we think

In a recent study by the EEDAR (Electronic Entertainment Design and Research) and reported by GameIndustry, in the past few years the amount of video games sold digitally has increased dramatically. In 2008, %60 of all games sold were in physical copies. In 2014, it was down to a mere %34.With this, the amount of games sold in digital form ONLY went from %40 in 2008 to %66 in 2014. If this trend continues, it is only a matter of time before we purchase all of our video games through a digital market. While large AAA companies are moving releasing many of their titles digitally as well as physically, this increase in digital sales may also play in large part to the rise of mobile gaming and the increase of smaller indie publishers. Thanks to Steam and other digital markets, it is a the best ever to be an indie developer for the video game community.
