A video released earlier today offered players a blow-by-blow breakdown of the Horizon Zero Dawn trailer shown at Sony’s E3 press conference.
Mark Norris, Senior Producer of Guerrilla games, walks players through the trailer, as characters, weapons, and locations for the new IP are introduced.
“We’ve been doing, at Guerrilla, Killzone for more than a decade now; interiors, and corridors and lots of grays,” Norris said. “We really wanted to do something beautiful, so you have lots of blues, lots of greens inside of that sort of open world environment, and we actually tried to keep as much as the game in the open world as possible.”
Norris calls the in-game world “completely seamless” as players can visit just about anywhere without facing loading, thanks to the use of a modified Killzone engine.
Norris also hints at a relationship between the machines and main character, Aloy. While he doesn’t go into detail, he confirms that she does her killing with a purpose.
He goes onto say that the bow Aloy holds in the trailer is actually made up of elements that occur naturally in the environment, as well as machine parts, the latter of which Norris calls the “key” to Horizon Zero Dawn.
“They are the base of the economy, and you’re going to want them because Aloy is the master craftswoman.”
Horizon Zero Dawn is headed to PlayStation 4 sometime in 2016. Watch above to see all of Norris’ insights into the trailer and let us know if you’re excited for the game below!
