CDProjektRED have offered a glimpse of The Witcher 3’s upcoming expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, by means of promotional art recently added to the games Steam page. Witcher forum users pointed out that the art for Hearts of Stone appears to show Shani, a red-haired medic seen in the original Witcher, who was referenced in The Witcher 3, but never made an appearance – until perhaps now.
When first announced in April, CDProjektRED teased that the content would see the return of characters both “new and dearly missed”. When questioned, the developers’ community manager Marcin Momot confirmed the artwork was genuine but wouldn’t confirm the red-haired ladies identity, and stated “As far as the character portrayed on the illustration, we’ll leave that for the community to figure out”.
As for Blood and Wine, the teaser image depicts a castle on a hillside, presumably located in the all-new region of Toussaint, a land untainted by war, where an atmosphere of carefree indulgence and knightly ritual masks an ancient, bloody secret.
Hearts of Stone is expected to offer around 10 hours of content and release in October, while Blood and Wine should add 20 hours of content and is due for release in the first quarter of 2016, both are included in the games season pass.
