Gamescom is just a few weeks away. While Microsoft will be at the show, a number of Xbox One titles will be skipping the convention.
Upcoming Xbox One titles Sea of Thieves and ReCore will not be seen at Microsoft’s Gamescom briefing next month. Xbox boss Phil Spencer confirmed this over Twitter, explaining that the short time period between E3 and Gamescom was to blame. He stated: “Another demo so close to E3 is just tough on production.”
Spencer also hinted at the fact that neither Gears of War: Ultimate Edition nor Gears of War 4 will be at Gamescom. This is due to Germany’s refusal to rate games in the franchise, blocking retailers from selling them.
The new Phantom Dust for Xbox One will not be at Gamescom either. Although Microsoft is “still committed” to the title, we will not see it at the show.
Despite these titles not showing at Gamescom, Microsoft still has a number of games to show off. The company purposefully withheld some games from E3 in order to show them off at the European show. Games include Scalebound, Quantum Break, and Crackdown. We may even see Halo 5: Guardians or Rise of the Tomb Raider. Spencer also confirmed that Windows 10 will have a presence at Microsoft’s show.
Microsoft’s Gamescom presentation will be held on August 4th. The actual convention itself runs August 5-9 in Cologne, Germany. Sony will not make a presentation at the convention this year, instead waiting to make announcements at Paris Games Week in October.
