Last year, Assassin’s Creed Unity was struck with many severe issues, which have been fixed. Despite these issues, the game has been selling at an unexpected rate. As of December 31st, both Unity and and Assassin’s Creed Rogue have a combined 10 million copies sold. Ubisoft did not, however, state the sales numbers for either game.
Despite Assassin’s Creed sales, Ubisoft saw a drop in overall sales. Ubisoft sales dropped 73.2% to €96.6 million during the last quarter, down from €360.1 million during the same period last year.
One thing to note is that Watch Dogs saw record-breaking sales during this quarter last year. Ubisoft has noted that the company’s sales performance for the quarter is higher than the company’s previously announced €80 million goal.
Back-catalog sales were a bright spot for Ubisoft, rising 59.3% this quarter. Sales were led by Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry 4, Watch Dogs, and more. Ubisoft also saw a positive quarter in digital revenue, which brought in €54.1 million. Digital sales made up 56% of all sales, compared to 23.2% during the same quarter last year.
