Still hoping for a chance to grab Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Collector’s Edition? Unfortunately, it’s now up to someone else canceling their order for you to get your hands on one.
Bethesda’s Marketing VP Pete Hines told GameSpot at Quakecon that the factory producing the special versions of the game literally cannot produce anymore of the Pip-Boys after hitting factory limit.
“We reached a point where we’d go back to the factories and they were like, ‘guys, this is it, sorry. This is as long as we can run the lines and as many of them as we can make.'” Hines said, claiming that Bethesda’s goal is not to make the Collector’s Edition extremely rare.
Hines revealed that a larger number of the Pip-boy Collector’s Edition for Fallout 4 are being made than any previous limited editions of Bethesda titles.
“We made a s**tload of Pip-Boys, and we went back and made more, and went back and made more. I keep seeing stuff about, ‘Oh, you only did a few thousand.” No–we did a ton of these things. I think we did more of these things than we did for any collector’s edition we’ve ever done, ever.”
“I mean, we don’t make them, and we’d go back to [the factories] and say, ‘Demand for this is insane, we’ve got to make more.’ And they’d move other projects off or shift stuff to other factories and it just came to [them telling Bethesda], ‘Final answer: sorry, this is as many as we can make.’ And we sold every single one of those that we could.”
The Pip-Boy edition of Fallout 4 comes with a replica Pip-Boy that houses your phone, as well as a case and poster along with the game. Originally retailing for $120, this special edition is sold out everywhere. However, you can grab your hands on the regular edition of Fallout 4 when it arrives on November 10.
