Recently, Square Enix shared news of a new game in the Dragon Quest series. Dragon Quest Builders which will be available for the PS3, PS4, and Vita bears a strong resemblance to Minecraft in many ways. The screenshots below showed off a couple of characters, the interface and the general art design of the world.
The game takes after Minecraft in the way the world is pretty blockey and interfaces, but it also retains much of which fans have come to know and love about Square’s characters and monsters that have come from the Dragon Quest franchise. The game does look beautiful in the style it has been created. The game looks like it will definitely be drawing upon the same strengths as Minecraft when it comes to world exploration and as the title suggests, building! Combat still looks to be a big part of things, but not too many details are out there yet.
