To be partly funded by Sony, partly by Kickstarter – Shenmue 3 was announced as an actual possible real thing that might happen. It took a mere nine hours to meet its goal and firmly (as much as a Kickstarter project can) transcend into concrete reality.
Recently, even more good news broke regarding the project. Gamespot reported Corey Marshall – the original voice actor of protagonist Ryo Hazuki – is on-board the project. In an update on the game’s Kickstarter page it read:
“Just in! Corey Marshall, the actor who did the English voice acting for the main character Ryo in Shenmue 1 & 2, is now confirmed for Shenmue 3!
The support for Mr. Marshall to reprise his role as Ryo has been just overwhelming!
We would all like to thank Corey-san for coming back, and especially for all the support he has given to Shenmue over the years.”
Shenmue 3 is expected to ship in 2017 for PC and PlayStation 4.
