FIFA 16 will look a little bit differently in Australia than the rest of the world.
The cover of the game in Australia will feature a female player for the first time in FIFA video game history, and the honor goes to Steph Catley who won out over two of her other teammates on the Australian National Team after a fan-voted poll.
This marks two firsts for the series – the first time a female will grace the cover artwork for the franchise and also the first time a FIFA cover player has been voted on and decided by the fans.
While Catley will join Lionel Messi on the cover in Australia, it appears that Messi will go without a female on the cover in the rest of the world, marking his fifth time appearing on the front of a FIFA game. Catley will be joined Jordan Henderson on the cover in the UK.
FIFA 16 will be the first game in the series to contain playable female teams. The game arrives on September 22 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
