A new tactical RPG has been revealed for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Entitled, The Dwarves, the game is based on the bestselling novel series of the same name by Markus Heitz. The game is being developed by German studio, KingArtGames, previously responsible for The Book of Unwritten Tales and Battle Worlds: Kronos.
Below you can find a teaser trailer, showing off the game’s dynamic battles. The developer also describes a “flocking behavior”, “If a dwarf lands a mighty blow with a heavy war hammer, struck orcs are thrown back, and some of them might even be pushed into an abyss!”
The developers revealed a few additional details, including a group of up to 12 companions to go along with the main protagonist, Tungdil. Each companion will have their own backstory and unique skills. The developers cited Fire Emblem as an inspiration for this. Each battle will have the player choose four heroes to fight hundreds of enemies at once, reminiscent of Helm’s Deep!
For anyone who wants a closer look, the game will be presented at Gamescom at the EuroVideo/Nordic Games booth.
