The Real Time Strategy(RTS) genre had a time to shine back in the 90’s and early 00’s. With games like Warcraft, Starcraft, Age of Empires, and Age of Mythology rocking the PC gaming realm, the latest (major) we have gotten was Starcraft II. And with the last expansion coming out for that soon, its time for someone else to step up to the plate.
Enter SEGA. The Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War series has been long ignored, with the last came coming out in 2009. The popular RTS series looked like it was at the end, until SEGA purchased DawnOfWar3.com.
The Warhammer franchise is anything but lacking in terms of games and models. Featuring two separate table top games, 40k and Fantasy, a third person shooter series, an RTS franchise, and a turn base strategy game slated for 2015 release(Total War: Warhammer).
We can only hope that this means Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3 is on the way.
