Sometime ago, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer mentioned in a tweet that the Xbox One would not be able to have background music until Windows 10 was part of the system. Now that Windows 10 is almost here, Microsoft has announced Xbox Music will now be known as Groove.
With Groove, users will be able to stream or download music from a vast library of artists. The price of the application is $9.99 a month or $99 for a year subscription. There is no free version of Groove, but with a paid subscription there will be no advertisements for any music listening. There will also be a free 30-day trial, to test out the service before purchase.
Not much is changing here, obviously. But a rebranding and perhaps some simple changes could lead to Xbox One owners getting the music app they have been longing for.
