Sony today had several announcements today for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, including a release date, multiple special editions, and announcing a series first, a single-player story DLC .
The primary bonus included with the digital deluxe edition of Uncharted 4 is the Uncharted Triple Pack. Sony describes it as including “future access to the first-ever, single-player story add-on for the Uncharted series and two multiplayer packs that will unlock new, rare, and legendary multiplayer items.”
The Triple Pack can be purchased as standalone DLC for those who don’t pick up the digital deluxe edition. That version of the game is priced at $80, suggesting the Triple Pack will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $20, but that detail hasn’t been officially announced.
As you’d expect, Sony didn’t offer any details about what the single-player DLC will consist of, when it will take place, or whom it will star. Uncharted 4 is intended to be the end of Nathan Drake’s story. It’s speculated that the DLC may be a brand new character that will continue the Uncharted franchise as the new series protagonist.
In the past, Uncharted games have offered DLC, but it’s been of the multiplayer variety: Uncharted 3 had quite a few DLC packs, ranging from new maps to new skins and avatars. In the past, the company got some slack for not releasing a single-play story DLC to correlate with the rest of the DLC with Uncharted 3 in 2011.
