Destiny’s AI companion, Ghost, voiced by Game Of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage, has been recast, with prolific video game voice actor Nolan North – famously the voice of Nathan Drake in Uncharted – taking over the role.
Bungie hired North to not only play Ghost in September’s expansion The Taken King , but for the franchise overall.
As such, all of Dinklage’s voiceover has been wiped and re-voiced by North, though the script remains the same. It’s unclear why Bungie have elected to drop Dinklage, but some fans remarked that Dinklage’s Ghost was too monotone.
In an interview with Game Informer, Nolan North remarked that he’s excited about voicing the character and intends to bring more “personality” to the role.
“I was really excited to do this role,” said North. “You want to give him as much personality as the world will allow, without making it unbelievable. There’s a fine line to walk there, and I think we found it.”
The Taken King launches on September 15.
