Legendary actor Bill Murray is set to appear in the upcoming reboot of Ghostbusters helmed by Bridesmaids director Paul Feig and starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Chris Hemsworth will also play a part.

Originally Murray and costars Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and the late, great Harold Ramis, were rumored to return as the ghost busting crew once again, but progress was put on hold indefinitely for various reasons. It came to light that Murray was a contributing factor for this hold, and he explained exactly why on a TV interview with David Letterman in which he cites his disappointment with the second movie and an unimpressive script presented to him for the third.

The script was reworked to its new form as a reboot featuring a new cast reprising the roles Murray and crew once filled, and this has clearly met with Murray’s approval as he is fully set to move ahead on the film. Although his role is not yet certain, rumor has it that he will be playing a ghost debunker this time around, which really isn’t that different from his original role as Dr. Peter Venkman. Reportedly the role was written specifically for him, so that makes sense.

Dan Aykroyd is also set for a small cameo role as a cabbie.

Ghostbusters is set to release July 15th, 2016 in the USA.
