In an interview with Gamespot, Hidetaka Miyazaki, creator of the Dark Souls series and president of FromSoftware, recently commented on the possible end of his “life’s work” and any future projects he may have in the works.

“Dark Souls is my life’s work,” he said in the interview. “Everything I came up with for Dark Souls 3 is based on my personal preferences. However, Dark Souls 3 is also actually the turning point for the franchise.”

Miyazaki continued stating his interest in starting new projects. “I do want to work on something new,” he said. “I’m pleased to hear people are interested in seeing that.” Although he didn’t mention specific titles, Miyazaki did say he intends to launch “several new projects”. Trying to zero in on what those new projects might be, he was asked if he has ever considered leaving the fantasy trappings of the Souls series for sci-fi or mech genres, possibly bringing over the foundation of his previous work, Miyazaki said he “definitely wants to bring the Miyazaki Touch” to them.

Dark Souls 3 is scheduled to be released early 2016 on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.
