Many titles these days support the ability to pre-load onto PC before the title releases. It seems that Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain will not be one of those games.
Metal Gear Solid community manager Robert Allen Peeler has confirmed on Twitter that PC versions of Phantom Pain will not support the ability to pre-load the title. When asked why not, he responded with “I don’t have a specific reason, but I’ll ping the team once again.”
Even though gamers will not be able to pre-load Metal Gear Solid 5, they can pre-purchase the title on Steam. The game will unlock on September 1st New Zealand time, which is August 31st at 5 a.m. PDT / 8 a.m. EDT. Console gamers, however, will be able to pre-load The Phantom Pain onto their systems. The game will unlock on September 1st at 12:01 a.m. EDT / August 31st at 9:01 p.m. PDT.
Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain will release on September 1st for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The game was originally slated to release on PC on September 15th, but the title was moved up to match the console release date.
