That means when backwards compatibility for the Xbox One launches in November, as Microsoft also announced today, all games released through the Games With Gold service will be playable on the Xbox One console.
Games With Gold is a monthly drop of free games – 2 for the Xbox One and 2 for the Xbox 360 – that are available for download to Xbox Live subscribers.
Backwards compatibility for the Xbox One is currently only available to members of the Xbox Preview Program.
More than 100 games will be available for the service when it does launch, with “hundreds” more to follow according to Microsoft. The entire list of the initial games supported can be found here.
