Gears of War 4 getting back to its roots, "something personal, dark, and mysterious"

During this year's E3 we were given a pretty interesting gameplay demo by The Coalition for their latest title, Gears of War 4. If you can remember back to November 2006, the first Gears of Wars wasn’t just a straight forward shooter; it had a lot of horror elements that gave the story an edge over the typical war story. Coalition head Rod Fergusson stated that their goal with Gears of War 4 is to go back to those roots.

“We’re going back to something personal, intimate, dark, and mysterious, being afraid of the boogeyman,” stated Fergusson, later adding that they’ll be going back to, “that sense of mystery, things going bump in the night.”

Did Coaltion’s recent gameplay demo give you that feeling of something going bump in the night? Excited to get back into the Gears series? Let us know in the comments!
