Grandia II was one of the many forgotten gems that was released for the forgotten Sega console the Dreamcast. It was later ported to the PS2 where it stood as a lesser known cult classic astride giants like Final Fantasy XII and Tales of the Abyss.
Developer Game Arts revealed in May that they would be releasing a remake of Grandia II to Steam, and now it appears that the remake will appear on GoG.com as well. The HD Edition came after fans responded with overwhelming support for a remake of the classic game.
“Grandia II was chosen for a PC re-release because it represents both a hallmark of the Grandia series and an example of how great JRPGs can be.”
The HD Edition will include updated game visuals, an included Japanese voice track, gamepad support and a new difficulty level for hardcore fans. Perhaps this will pave the way for a long-awaited Grandia 4 that fans have been clamoring for for years after Grandia III effectively killed the franchise.
Grandia II HD Edition is slated for “2015” and will be released on PC on Steam and GOG.com.
