When Microsoft announced that there would be no split screen play in the upcoming exclusive Halo 5, a lot of fans were highly upset. The reasoning behind no split screen, according to Microsoft, was to create the best experience possible.
Frank O’Connor, the franchise development director for Halo 5, took to Twitter after a fan used the hashtag “#BringHalo5SplitScreenBack.”
O’Connor replied by saying, “If we could do it, we would do it. But it is what they call ‘nontrivial.'”
“Many of our ambitious goals for Halo 5 would be compromised in a split-screen setting and the time spent optimizing and addressing split-screen-specific issues would take focus from building other parts of the game,” he said. “Game development is a balancing act of resources, time, and technology, and in this case we made the tough decision to sacrifice something that’s been near and dear to us all.”
Halo 5 comes out October 27th on Xbox One. Will it be the same without split screen? Let us know in the comments below.
