The first expansion for Pillars of Eternity will be released on PC on August 25, Obsidian Entertainment announced.
The expansion, titled The White March – Part 1, was first announced at E3. Touting snowy environments, the expansion will raise the level cap, add additional items and abilities, and bring with it a new realm and more rogue and monk companions.
When initially announced, Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart said that the studio did more writing for the expansion than they did for the main Pillars of Eternity title. Obsidian calls it “an expertly crafted story from Carrie Patel, author of the Recoletta series and writer on the original Pillars of Eternity, and Eric Fenstermaker, lead writer on Pillars of Eternity and one of the co-writers of South Park: The Stick of Truth alongside show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.”
Players will be able to explore the new area included in the expansion whether they have completed the main game or not.
Pillars of Eternity was released in March 2015 after being backed by over 70,000 fans on Kickstarter and launched to critical acclaim.
Have you played Pillars of Eternity? Looking forward to its expansion? Sounds like it may be the first of multiple available for the title.
